If you’ve started looking for dog daycare or dog boarding in Maryland, you’ve probably noticed that most facilities sound pretty similar.

They offer daycare. They offer boarding. Maybe some grooming. Maybe a few extras.

But here’s the thing…not every dog wants the same kind of day.

Some dogs race through the door because they can’t wait to see their friends. Others would happily skip the crowd and spend the afternoon exploring with one of their favorite humans. Some are enjoying their golden years and need a little extra support, while others are recovering from surgery and simply need a safe place to heal while their family is at work.

At Best Friends Fur Ever, we’ve spent more than 20 years getting to know Maryland dogs. If there’s one thing they’ve taught us, it’s this:

There isn’t one perfect way to care for every dog. There’s only the right care for your dog, today.

That’s why we created four specialized dog daycare and overnight boarding experiences. Not because every dog needs something different forever, but because every dog deserves the flexibility to have the day that’s right for them.

Social Dog Daycare & Overnight Boarding

For dogs who love making friends.

If your dog lights up every time they see another dog, Social Daycare & Boarding may be exactly what they’re looking for.

Dogs are thoughtfully matched into supervised playgroups based on size, personality, play style, and energy level. Throughout the day, they enjoy active play, outdoor adventures, enrichment, and scheduled rest breaks that help keep the day balanced.

Here’s something many pet parents don’t expect: a dog can absolutely love social daycare and still benefit from some one-on-one time.

Imagine attending a networking conference for an entire week. It would probably be exciting at first—but by day five, you’d likely be ready for a quiet walk or lunch with a friend.

Dogs are no different.

Many boarding guests spend their first few days happily playing with friends and naturally begin looking for a little more individual attention as their stay continues.

That’s why our team doesn’t simply assign a dog to one program and leave them there. Throughout every daycare visit and boarding stay, we’re paying attention to your dog’s energy, body language, and behavior. If we think they’d enjoy an afternoon of fetch, a Sniffari scent wall, or personalized enrichment before returning to their friends the next day, we’ll make that happen.

Because creating more good days means paying attention to what your dog needs, not just what they signed up for.

This program is a great fit for dogs who:

  • Love playing with other dogs
  • Thrive in supervised group play
  • Enjoy active exercise and enrichment
  • Like making new canine friends

One-on-One Dog Daycare & Overnight Boarding (Play My Way)

Personalized adventures built around your dog’s favorite things.

Play My Way isn’t about doing less. It’s about doing what’s right for your dog.

For some dogs, the perfect day means sniffing out a Sniffari trail, splashing in the pools, chasing tennis balls, solving enrichment puzzles, practicing training games, or spending one-on-one time with one of our handlers.

For others, it means burning just as much energy as they would in social daycare, just in a more personalized way.

Every Play My Way schedule is customized around your dog’s personality, energy level, and interests.

It’s an excellent option for:

  • Dogs who prefer people over large playgroups
  • Unaltered dogs over seven months old
  • Puppies or dogs building confidence
  • Dogs who are selective with other dogs
  • Bonded pairs or siblings who enjoy spending the day together
  • Dogs who may benefit from a break from group play during longer boarding stays

Some Play My Way dogs spend the afternoon running, playing water games, and fetch.

Others spend the day exploring new enrichment activities, working on confidence-building games, or relaxing between adventures. No two days look exactly alike because no two dogs are exactly alike.

Sometimes that personalized attention is exactly what a dog needs from the very beginning. Other times, it’s something they naturally transition to after several days of social play. Either way, that’s where Play My Way shines.

Senior Dog Daycare & Overnight Boarding (Assisted Canine Care)

Growing older doesn’t mean giving up the things your dog loves. It simply means enjoying them a little differently.

Senior dog pet parents still deserve vacations. Their pups still deserve safe socialization and enrichment. And they absolutely still deserve plenty of love.

Our Assisted Canine Care program was designed specifically for older dogs and those who simply need a slower pace than traditional daycare can provide.

Instead of busy playgroups, these guests enjoy comfortable accommodations, gentle enrichment, medication support when needed, and handlers who understand the unique needs of aging dogs.

Many of our guests are living with arthritis, mobility changes, vision or hearing loss, or simply don’t have quite as much energy as they once did.

That’s okay. We’ll meet them exactly where they are.

Because every dog deserves to enjoy more good days, no matter their age. And every pet parent deserves that much needed vacation!

Recovery Daycare & Overnight Boarding (Assisted Canine Care Plus)

Helping dogs heal while giving families peace of mind.

One of the hardest parts after surgery isn’t always the surgery itself. It’s figuring out what comes next.

Maybe your dog needs medication throughout the day. Maybe your veterinarian prescribed strict crate rest, but keeping an energetic dog calm at home is easier said than done. Or maybe you’re facing the difficult reality of returning to work while your dog is still healing.

That’s why we created Assisted Canine Care Plus (ACC+).

ACC+ provides structured daycare and boarding for medically stable dogs recovering from surgery, injury, or managing chronic illness. Working alongside your veterinarian—not replacing them—our trained team follows your dog’s discharge instructions while providing medication support, mobility assistance, activity restrictions, and 24/7 around-the-clock supervision.

We commonly care for dogs recovering from:

  • TPLO and ACL surgery
  • Orthopedic procedures
  • Eye surgery
  • Cancer treatments
  • IVDD
  • Chronic medical conditions
  • Mobility challenges

It’s the extra support many families wish existed after leaving the veterinary hospital. Healing isn’t always convenient. Work schedules don’t stop. Family responsibilities don’t pause. ACC+ was built so your dog’s recovery plan doesn’t have to compromise, even when life continues moving forward.

Which Program Is Right for Your Dog?

Dogs aren’t static. The daycare experience that’s perfect today may not be the best fit six months from now.

A playful puppy may eventually become a senior who enjoys quieter afternoons.

A dog recovering in Assisted Canine Care Plus today may be back splashing in the pools with friends after they’ve healed.

A social boarding guest may spend three days happily playing before asking us—through their body language—for an afternoon of fetch and one-on-one enrichment.

That’s exactly why our team continues getting to know your dog during every visit. We don’t simply assign dogs to programs. We pay attention.

Sometimes the best day means making new friends. Sometimes it means slowing down. Sometimes it means healing. And sometimes it means doing a little bit of everything.

Because creating more good days starts with listening to the dog in front of us.
