There’s nothing wrong with a few extra pounds, especially if your dog is happy and healthy. Weight can increase the risk of disease and unhealthiness if it gets into the obesity range, but there are steps you can take to ease your dog back to health!
If you’re counting calories, still meet the nutrition. You don’t want to constrict the calories as well as the good stuff. You should want high fiber, more digestable protein, and added glucosamine and chondroitin – for joint health.
You want to keep their metabolism going and always ready to digest. Instead of keeping them two large meals a day, break in down into smaller increcementsand more frequently.
Spend more quality time by playing with them! Treats are satisfying, rewarding, and helps promote good behavior, but they can always increase the weight gain.
