More Good Days Start With Getting to Know Your Pup

Dogs can’t tell us when something feels different—but they often show us in small ways.

At Best Friends Fur Ever, our trained handlers spend the day getting to know each dog’s personality, routine, energy level, mobility, and overall comfort. By understanding what is normal for each guest, we’re better prepared to recognize meaningful changes and respond thoughtfully when needed.

Daily wellness monitoring isn’t a veterinary examination. It’s one of the many ways we support your dog’s health, comfort, and happiness while they’re in our care.

Why Daily Wellness Monitoring Matters

Every dog is different.

Some spend the day chasing friends across the play yard. Others prefer exploring at their own pace, relaxing in the sunshine, or enjoying enrichment with a handler.

Because our team sees your dog throughout the day—not just at drop-off and pick-up—we have the opportunity to notice subtle changes that may otherwise go unnoticed.

These everyday observations help us provide more individualized care and keep you informed about your dog’s experience.

Getting to Know Your Dog

The best wellness observations begin with understanding what’s normal.

Our handlers take time to learn each dog’s:

  • Personality
  • Play style
  • Energy level
  • Mobility
  • Daily routine
  • Favorite activities
  • Comfort level around other dogs
  • Individual preferences

The better we know your dog, the easier it is to recognize when something seems different.

What We Observe Throughout the Day

Our wellness observations happen naturally throughout play, rest periods, meals, enrichment activities, walks, and one-on-one interactions.

Personality & Behavior

Every dog has their own personality. Some are outgoing and social, while others enjoy quieter moments.

We pay attention to changes in confidence, social interactions, engagement, and overall behavior throughout the day.

Energy & Play

Some days are naturally more active than others.

We observe how each dog participates in play, enrichment, and daily activities while recognizing changes that may suggest they would benefit from additional rest or a quieter pace.

Movement & Mobility

Watching dogs move is part of understanding how they’re feeling.

Our team observes how dogs walk, run, climb, stand, sit, and transition between activities, noting meaningful changes in mobility or comfort.

Eating & Drinking

For dogs receiving meals or snacks during their visit, we observe appetite, food intake, and water consumption as part of their overall daily wellness.

Bathroom Habits

Changes in bathroom habits can sometimes provide helpful information about a dog’s overall well-being.

When appropriate, our team documents these observations and shares them with pet parents.

Breathing & Overall Comfort

Our handlers remain attentive to each dog’s breathing, posture, body language, and overall comfort throughout the day.

Small changes can sometimes be the first indication that a dog may benefit from additional attention or a quieter environment.

How We Keep You Connected

Report Cards & Daily Updates

We believe you should feel connected to your dog’s day—even when you’re apart.

Depending on your dog’s program and length of stay, your updates may include observations about their food and water intake, play and enrichment activities, energy level, mobility, behavior, bathroom habits, and overall well-being.

If we notice a meaningful change from your dog’s normal routine, we’ll share what we’ve observed and keep you informed using your preferred method of communication.

If Your Dog Needs a Little Extra Attention

Every dog has days that look a little different.

If one of our handlers notices a meaningful change in your dog’s comfort, behavior, energy level, or participation, we’ll provide additional attention and determine the most appropriate next steps based on your dog’s individual needs.

Your dog may enjoy some quiet time away from group activities while our leadership team checks in, makes observations, and adjusts their routine if needed. Depending on the situation, we may recommend additional rest, a slower-paced day, or follow-up with your veterinarian before returning to regular activities.

We’ll always keep you informed along the way. Communication may include:

  • A message through the Gingr Pet Parent App
  • A text update
  • Notes included in your dog’s report card
  • A phone call when a conversation is helpful

If veterinary care is recommended, we’ll work with you to coordinate the next steps while supporting your dog’s comfort until you’re able to take over.

Trained, Caring Handlers

Getting to know dogs is one of the most important parts of what we do.

Our handlers learn each dog’s personality, routine, play style, and individual preferences so they can provide thoughtful, personalized care throughout the day.

Best Friends Fur Ever handlers are PackPro Certified and receive Basic Pet First Aid and CPR training. Ongoing education helps our team recognize meaningful changes, respond calmly, communicate clearly, and provide attentive care for every guest.

Around-the-Clock Care

Best Friends Fur Ever is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Our overnight team remains onsite to care for boarding guests, provide fresh water, administer approved medications, complete scheduled care routines, and ensure every dog is comfortable throughout the night.

Dogs are never left alone in an unattended facility. Having team members onsite around the clock allows us to continue providing individualized care long after daytime play has ended.

Daily Wellness Is Part of a Bigger Picture

Daily wellness observations are one of many ways we help support your dog’s health and well-being.

Our approach also includes:

  • Required vaccinations
  • Professional cleaning and disinfection
  • PetAirapy air purification
  • Fresh air circulation and outdoor play
  • Individualized care programs
  • Structured rest periods
  • 24/7 onsite staffing
  • Daily report cards and pet parent communication
  • Collaboration with trusted veterinary partners

Every layer works together to support a healthier, happier experience for every dog who visits Best Friends Fur Ever.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is daily wellness monitoring?

Daily wellness monitoring is how our trained handlers get to know each dog’s normal routine, personality, energy level, mobility, and overall well-being throughout the day.

By understanding what’s typical for each guest, we’re better able to recognize meaningful changes and provide thoughtful, individualized care whenever it’s needed.

Is daily wellness monitoring the same as a veterinary examination?

No. Daily wellness monitoring is not a veterinary examination or medical diagnosis. Instead, it’s an added layer of attentive care that helps us understand each dog’s normal behaviors, routines, and health.

What happens if my dog needs a little extra attention?

If we notice a meaningful change from your dog’s normal routine, we’ll provide additional attention and determine the most appropriate next steps.

Your dog may enjoy some quiet time away from group activities while our team checks in, makes observations, and adjusts their routine if needed.

We’ll communicate with you promptly, explain what we’ve observed, and discuss any recommendations before your dog’s visit continues whenever possible.

How Will I Know How My Dog Did During Their Visit?

We want you to feel connected to your dog’s day, even when you’re apart.

Every report card includes observations about your dog’s visit, which may include:

  • Food and water intake
  • Play and enrichment activities
  • Energy level
  • Mobility
  • Behavior
  • Bathroom habits
  • Overall well-being

When you’ll receive a report card:

  • Social Play Boarding: A report card is provided at the end of your dog’s stay.
  • Play My Way, Assisted Canine Care (ACC), and Assisted Canine Care Plus (ACC+): You’ll receive a daily report card with updates throughout your dog’s stay.

If we notice anything outside of your dog’s normal behavior or anything we’d want to know about our own pets, we won’t wait for a report card. Our team will communicate with you promptly using your preferred contact method and keep you updated as often as needed.

Do you observe dogs during overnight boarding?

Yes.

Best Friends Fur Ever is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Our overnight team remains onsite to care for boarding guests, complete scheduled care routines, provide approved medications, and continue observing each dog’s comfort throughout the night.

Dogs are never left alone in an unattended facility.

What should I tell you before my dog’s visit?

Please let us know about any recent changes that may help us care for your dog, including:

  • Changes in appetite
  • New medications
  • Recent veterinary visits
  • Mobility changes
  • Recovery from a procedure
  • Changes in behavior or routine

The more we know about your dog’s normal routine, the more personalized their experience can be.

Why does Best Friends Fur Ever focus so much on knowing each dog?

Because no two dogs are alike.

Getting to know each dog’s personality, preferences, routines, and play style helps us provide more individualized care, celebrate their successes, and recognize when they may benefit from additional attention.

For us, great care starts with building relationships—not simply following a routine.

How is daily wellness monitoring different from simply supervising dogs?

Supervision focuses on keeping dogs safe during play.

Daily wellness monitoring goes a step further. Our handlers build relationships with the dogs in their care, learn each guest’s normal personality and routine, and make thoughtful observations throughout the day. That individualized approach helps us tailor each dog’s experience, recognize meaningful changes, and keep pet parents connected to their dog’s visit.

Pet Parents Are Part of the Process

You know your dog better than anyone.

Before each visit, please tell us about anything that may help our team care for them more effectively, including:

  • Recent illness or veterinary treatment – must have vet clearance letter
  • Changes in appetite or energy
  • Mobility changes or discomfort
  • Medication updates
  • Changes in behavior
  • Recent injuries or procedures

Open communication helps our team understand what is normal for your dog and provide more individualized care.

Working Together for More Good Days

Our Commitment to Thoughtful Care

Daily wellness monitoring is about paying attention.

It means knowing the difference between a dog who naturally enjoys a quiet afternoon and one who may not be feeling like themselves. It means documenting concerns, communicating clearly, and making thoughtful adjustments when needed.

At Best Friends Fur Ever, those everyday observations are part of how we help protect your dog’s comfort, health, and happiness during every visit.
