A better day starts with caring for the whole dog.

Dog wellness is about more than exercise.

At Best Friends Fur Ever, we think about how dogs move, play, think, socialize, rest and feel and how those needs change throughout their lives.

That’s why we don’t believe every dog needs the same kind of daycare, enrichment or activity.

From puppies who love a busy playgroup to older dogs who need a gentler pace, we build each dog’s experience around what helps them enjoy more good days.

What Does Dog Wellness Actually Mean?

For us, dog wellness isn’t a package or a buzzword. It’s how we approach everyday care.

A dog’s well-being includes their physical comfort, mental stimulation, social needs, opportunities to rest and ability to enjoy the things that make them happy.

That looks different for every dog.

MOVE

Movement that meets them where they are.

Some dogs want to run with friends. Others benefit from a slower walk, individualized activity or movement at their own pace.

BFFE offers different opportunities for movement based on each dog’s program, age, abilities and needs.

EXPLORE

Exercise their brain, too.

Sniffing, searching, exploring and problem-solving give dogs opportunities to use their natural behaviors.

Our enrichment can include scent activities, sniff walls, puzzles, individual activities and outdoor exploration.

REST

Because more activity isn’t always better.

Rest is part of a good day.

Our care models include opportunities for dogs to decompress and reset, with quieter environments and comfortable rest options available for dogs who need them.

CONNECT

Social doesn’t mean the same thing for every dog.

Some dogs love a big group of friends. Some prefer a few carefully selected buddies. Others would rather spend their day with people.

We don’t consider one of those dogs more successful than another.

We find the kind of interaction that works for that dog.

FEEL GOOD

Comfort matters at every age.

BFFE offers additional wellness services designed around relaxation, comfort, enrichment and mobility-focused routines, including canine massage, PEMF, red light therapy and other wellness experiences.

One Dog Daycare Model Doesn’t Fit Every Dog

Your dog’s needs can change. Their care can change with them.

BFFE offers multiple daycare experiences because dogs have different personalities, energy levels, social preferences, ages and abilities.

Social Play

For dogs who love having a group of friends.

Supervised playgroups provide opportunities for socialization, movement, outdoor activity and rest throughout the day.

Explore Social Play →

Play My Way

For dogs who prefer a more individualized day.

Small-group and one-on-one activities give dogs opportunities to play, explore and engage without requiring a traditional large social group.

This can also provide an option for dogs whose social preferences change over time. BFFE already has content explaining how dogs can transition from Social Play to Play My Way based on their needs rather than treating daycare as pass/fail.

Assisted Canine Care

For senior, aging and differently abled dogs and dogs who need more hands-on support.

ACC provides a quieter, slower-paced environment with comfortable crate-free rest, mobility assistance, medication support, extra potty opportunities and enrichment at each dog’s pace.

Wellness Changes as Dogs Age

Their needs may change. Their world doesn’t have to get smaller.

An energetic two-year-old and a 13-year-old dog with mobility challenges don’t necessarily need the same kind of day.

As dogs age, they may want shorter periods of activity, additional rest, more frequent potty breaks, help getting comfortable or different kinds of enrichment.

That’s one reason we created Assisted Canine Care.

ACC gives senior and special needs dogs another way to continue enjoying daycare and overnight care while receiving additional support.

Depending on the dog, their day may include:

  • Gentle, comfortable movement
  • Scent-based and mental enrichment
  • Extra potty breaks
  • Mobility assistance
  • Medication support
  • Comfortable crate-free rest
  • Individual attention
  • Enrichment based on what they comfortably enjoy

Getting older doesn’t have to mean graduating from daycare.

Well-Being Doesn’t Stop at Bedtime

Dog boarding built around the dog staying with us.

A dog’s routine, comfort and care needs don’t disappear when their pet parent travels.

BFFE offers overnight boarding through our different care programs, allowing us to consider how a dog spends their day and their night.

Depending on their program and location, dogs may enjoy social boarding, individualized Play My Way boarding, Assisted Canine Care boarding or premium lodging options.

And because dogs stay with us overnight, BFFE has team members onsite 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Wellness Services at BFFE

Small additions can make a good day even better.

Dogs can also enjoy wellness and enrichment experiences designed to complement their regular BFFE care.

Canine Massage

Hands-on massage focused on relaxation and a comfortable experience, with options especially relevant to aging dogs and dogs whose routines prioritize mobility and comfort.

PEMF

A non-invasive wellness service that can be incorporated into a dog’s relaxation and comfort routine.

Red Light Therapy

A non-invasive wellness option offered as part of BFFE’s broader approach to comfort and well-being.

Scent & Sniff Enrichment

Sniff walls and scent-based activities encourage dogs to explore using one of their most powerful senses.

Treadmill Movement

Controlled movement at the dog’s own comfortable pace, providing another way to incorporate physical activity into their day.

Aromatherapy & Calming Experiences

Selected calming experiences can be incorporated into rest and relaxation routines for appropriate dogs.

What Makes BFFE’s Approach Different?

We don’t define wellness as one activity.

At BFFE, whole-dog well-being means looking at the individual dog’s physical activity, mental enrichment, social preferences, opportunities for rest, comfort and changing needs over time.

That is why we offer:

Different daycare models instead of expecting every dog to thrive in the same environment.

Daycare and overnight boarding designed around different social and care needs.

Dedicated senior and differently abled dog care through Assisted Canine Care.

Recovery care for medically stable dogs through ACC+.

Mental enrichment including scent work, sniffing and individualized activities.

Comfort and wellness services including canine massage, PEMF and red light therapy.

24/7 onsite care for dogs staying overnight.

A team trained to recognize that a dog’s needs may change throughout their life.

Introducing Vitality Days

A little more wellness built into their routine.

Vitality Days bring several BFFE wellness experiences together into one recurring day.

Designed for pet parents who want to intentionally build movement, mental enrichment, relaxation, hydration and fresh air into their dog’s routine.

Each Vitality Day includes:

  • Treadmill movement at their own pace
  • Canine massage
  • PAWP probiotic hydration
  • Sniff-wall enrichment
  • Fresh-air potty and outdoor time

1 day per week. 4 days per month.

Dog wellness is about supporting the whole dog — physically, mentally and emotionally. That can include movement, enrichment, social interaction, good nutrition and hydration, plenty of rest, comfort and care that changes as your dog’s needs change.

At BFFE, wellness isn’t one treatment or add-on. It’s part of how we think about your dog’s entire day.

It can be when the daycare environment fits the individual dog. Some dogs thrive in social playgroups, while others are more comfortable with smaller groups, individual enrichment or a quieter pace.

Unlike traditional dog daycare, BFFE offers three care programs:

  1. Social Play
  2. Play My Way
  3. Assisted Canine Care

….so daycare doesn’t have to look the same for every dog.

Explore our Maryland Dog Daycare Guide to find our which program is the best fit for your dog.

Your dog doesn’t have to love a big playgroup to have a great day at BFFE.

We’re not a pass/fail daycare. Dogs who aren’t comfortable in traditional Social Play may be happier in Play My Way, which offers smaller-group and individual experiences, or Assisted Canine Care for dogs who benefit from a quieter pace and more hands-on support.

Yes, many senior dogs can continue enjoying daycare when their environment and activities are appropriate for their needs. BFFE’s Assisted Canine Care was specifically designed for senior, aging and differently abled dogs and dogs who need additional hands-on support.

Mental enrichment can include scent work, scent walls, puzzles, exploring new environments and other activities that encourage dogs to use their senses and problem-solving skills.

BFFE incorporates enrichment differently depending on the dog’s care program and/or preferences.

Dogs need opportunities to rest, reset and decompress between activities. This can be especially important for puppies, senior dogs and dogs who become tired or overstimulated after long periods of activity.

At BFFE, rest isn’t time we need to fill. It’s part of the day.

BFFE offers a growing range of wellness and enrichment experiences designed to support movement, relaxation, comfort and mental engagement.

Depending on the program and location, experiences may include canine massage, PEMF, red light therapy, treadmill movement, scent-based enrichment, aromatherapy and other comfort-focused activities.

These services complement your dog’s daycare, boarding or care routine. They do not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment.

Vitality Days bring several wellness experiences together into one thoughtfully planned routine.

Each Vitality Day includes treadmill movement at your dog’s own pace, canine massage, PAWP probiotic hydration, sniff-wall enrichment and fresh-air time.

It’s not about pushing dogs to do more. It’s about giving them different ways to move, sniff, engage, relax and enjoy their day.

They’re two different things.

Assisted Canine Care (ACC) is a dedicated daycare and overnight boarding program for senior and aging dogs, differently abled dogs and dogs who need additional hands-on support.

Vitality Days are wellness-focused experiences that bring together selected movement, enrichment, hydration and relaxation activities.

A dog does not need to be a senior or ACC dog to benefit from wellness experiences when they are appropriate for that individual dog.

Yes. Best Friends Fur Ever has dog daycare and boarding resorts in Joppa, Maryland, in Harford County and Cockeysville, Maryland, in Baltimore County.

Our care options include Social Play, Play My Way and Assisted Canine Care, along with enrichment and wellness experiences.

Specific services and wellness experiences may vary by program and location.

Care That Grows With Your Dog

A dog’s idea of a good day can change over time. The play they love as a puppy may not be what they need as an adult or senior.

That’s why wellness at BFFE isn’t one activity, treatment or routine. It’s caring for the dog in front of us — with the right balance of movement, enrichment, social connection, rest, comfort and hands-on support for where they are today.

And when their needs change, their care can change with them.

Helping you have more good days with your dog.

The folks here are so nice. My dog Rocky acclimated in about 5 days… He is so happy here now. I’ve never seen anyone say a cross word to anyone or any animal. These folks are more than professional – they love dogs and it really shows.
